The krone (Danish: [ˈkʰʁoːnə]; plural: kroner; sign: kr.; code: DKK) is the official currency of Denmark, Greenland, and the Faroe Islands, introduced on 1 January 1875. Both the ISO code "DKK" and currency sign "kr." are in common use; the former precedes the value, the latter in some contexts follows it.

The banknotes have been designed by the artist Karin Birgitte Lund and feature motifs of Danish bridges and archaeological finds. From 2020-2025, security-upgraded versions of the banknotes, called the 2009A banknotes, will be issued. Both the 2009 and 2009A series will be valid means of payment until the launch of the new banknote series in 2028.

Currently, the Danish krone circulates in Greenland. The Greenlandic krone was not intended to be an independent currency but a version of the Danish krone. Consequently, it was not intended to have its own ISO 4217 currency code, but to use the same ISO 4217 code as the Danish krone, which is DKK.
