Welcome from Cumberland School of Law Dean Blake Hudson. After 15 years in the legal profession, I am still on the path of pursuing my purpose. My path has led me through the practice, research and teaching of environmental, natural resources and land use law. I pursued environmental law because of my love for family forestland in south Alabama.

Samford University’s Cumberland School of Law is located in Birmingham, Alabama, on a beautiful 247-acre campus and is one of the oldest law schools in the nation—established in 1847. At formation, when legal study was conducted by apprenticeship or through lectures, the law school pioneered an instructional method based on intensive trial practice.
