  5. Dakota Staton (pronounced STAY-ton) was born in Homewood, Pennsylvania, near Pittsburgh, on June 3 of either 1930 or 1931 (most sources indicate 1930). Her older brother Fred, who became a jazz saxophonist, told Jacki Lyden of National Public Radio that her career started as early as age seven, when "[s]he'd go around in the neighborhood, entertaining the neighbors from time to time."

    Dakota Staton was an American jazz vocalist who found international acclaim with the 1957 No. 4 hit "The Late, Late Show". She was also known by the Muslim name Aliyah Rabia for a period due to her conversion to Islam as interpreted by the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community.
