The Dalton School is a leading, independent, gender-inclusive day school (K-12). Founded in 1919 by progressive educator Helen Parkhurst, it is recognized for its rigorous and innovative curriculum.
The Dalton School, originally the Children's University School, is a private, coeducational college preparatory school in New York City and a member of both the Ivy Preparatory School League and the New York Interschool. The school is located in four buildings within the Upper East Side of Manhattan.

Present. The Dalton School's leading role in education: The Dalton School has flourished and grown in ways only imagined in 1919 when it was founded by Helen Parkhurst. Today it is recognized as a national and international model of progressive education based upon a rigorous and challenging academic curriculum.
