17 de dic. de 2023 · Daniel Finch, 2nd Earl of Nottingham, 7th Earl of Winchilsea PC (2 July 1647 – 1 January 1730) was an English Tory politician and peer who supported the Hanoverian Succession in 1714. Through his great granddaughter Lady Charlotte Cavendish, he was the ancestor of King Charles III.

Kneller made this unusual oil study showing three views of the unwigged head of Daniel Finch, 2nd Earl of Nottingham and 7th Earl of Winchilsea to guide a sculptor making a portrait of the Tory statesman. Another sitter of Kneller's, William Stukeley, wrote in his diary for 1720: '7 June. I sat to Sir Godfrey Kneller for my pictures.

Daniel Finch, 2nd Earl of Nottingham, 7th Earl of Winchilsea, was born 2 July 1647 to Heneage Finch, 1st Earl of Nottingham (1621-1682) and Elizabeth Harvey (1627-1676) and died 1 January 1730 of unspecified causes. He married Essex Rich (c1652-1684) 16 June 1674 . He married Anne Hatton (-1743) 29 December 1685 .
