Dave Tough (26 de abril de 1907 – 9 de diciembre de 1948) fue un batería de jazz estadounidense, destacado intérprete de Dixieland y swing en las décadas de 1930 y 1940. Biografía. Nacido en Oak Park (Illinois), Tough fue amigo de la infancia del también músico Bud Freeman, con el que formó parte del denominado Austin High School Gang en Chicago.

Dave Tough (April 26, 1907 – December 9, 1948) [1] was an American jazz drummer associated with Dixieland and swing jazz in the 1930s and 1940s. Biography. Born in Oak Park, Illinois, United States, [1] Tough was a friend of Bud Freeman, who was part of a group of musicians known as the Austin High School Gang in Chicago. [1] .
Dave Tough, a swinging drummer with a fine sense of musical quality, was a significant member of the group. He travelled to Europe in the '20s and also spent time in New York City making records with Eddie Condon, Red Nichols and others.

15 de may. de 2019 · Late in the afternoon of December 8, 1948, when he was apparently on his way to the apartment he and his wife had in Newark, he slipped on the street, hit his head on a curb, and fractured his skull. It was dark and he was drunk. He died in a hospital the next morning.
