Violet Hyacinth Bowes-Lyon was born 17 April 1882 Glamis Castle in Glamis, Angus, Scotland, United Kingdom to Claude George Bowes-Lyon, 14th Earl of Strathmore and Kinghorne (1855-1944) and Nina Cecilia Cavendish-Bentinck (1862-1938) and died 17 October 1893 Forbes House Ham, Surrey, England, United Kingdom of diphtheria.
Honourable Sir David Bowes-Lyon KCVO (2 May 1902[1] – 13 September 1961) was the sixth son of Claude Bowes-Lyon, 14th Earl of Strathmore and Kinghorne, and Cecilia Nina Cavendish-Bentinck. His sister Lady Elizabeth Bowes-Lyon married Prince Albert, the second son of King George V, in 1923 and became Queen Consort on the abdication of her husband´s brother King Edward VIII in 1936.

He is survived by a brother Captain David Bowes-Lyon [born 21 July, 1947], married to the Princess Royal's Lady-in-Waiting, Elizabeth Harriet Colville [born 3 Dec, 1952], a goddaughter of Queen Elizabeth II; and by a sister, Fiona Anne [born 3 July, 1944], wife of Joseph Henry Goodhart.
