David D. " Deacon " Jones (December 9, 1938 – June 3, 2013) was an American football defensive end who played in the National Football League (NFL) for 14 seasons. He played for the Los Angeles Rams, San Diego Chargers, and the Washington Redskins. He was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1980.

The Hall of Fame defensive end, credited with coining the word “sack” for how he knocked down quarterbacks, was 74. The Washington Redskins said Jones died of natural causes at his home in Southern California on Monday night.
