Alice Acheson ( née Stanley; August 12, 1895 – January 20, 1996) was an American painter and printmaker. Life. Born in Charlevoix, Michigan, the daughter of artist Jane C. Stanley and the granddaughter of John Mix Stanley; [1] her father, Louis Stanley, was a railroad lawyer. She grew up in Detroit. [2]

Truman from 1949 to 1953, was a handsome, elegant lady of immense charm. She was also a talented painter in oil and water-colour who exhibited in many American galleries and museums.
Alice Stanley Acheson’s vivid, impressionistic oil paintings and watercolors convey a sense of spontaneity. She primarily painted landscapes, many depicting scenes of locations she visited with her husband, Dean Acheson, who served as Secretary of State under President Harry S. Truman.
