[1] She was the daughter of Giovanni Garaventa (1862–1931) and Rosa Casagrande or Carrier [1] (1867–1927). In her youth she was an spiring opera singer. Natalina Maria Vittoria "Dolly" Garaventa married about 1914 to Antonino Martino Sinatra (1892–1969).

Soon after that, Dolly Sinatra chained herself to Hoboken town hall in 1919, as part of the campaign for women’s votes. Eventually she became head of the local Democratic ward.
