Upvoted because I don't necessarily disagree, but for scripts alone, Spielberg and Scorsese are close at 1 & 2 Jaws, E.T., Schindler's List, Jurassic Park, Close Encounters, Raiders....he was on a tear in his first two decades.
VTMB had to come out after HL2 due to agreement with Valve, and HL2 was delayed multiple times. Activision even helped financing ToEE development, even though it wasn't its publisher, just so that Troika could get all hands on deck for VTMB and get on schedule.
