  3. This fine drawing is a portrait of Dorothy Dene, who so often modelled for Leighton's later work. Born Ada Alice Pullan on 11 April 1859, Dorothy was discovered by Leighton's friend and future biographer Mrs Russell Barrington, standing on the doorstep of a nearby studio in 1879.

  7. Dorothy married Dene Martin Olsen on April 11, 1947. Solemnized January 1971 in the Salt Lake City Temple. Dorothy and Dene served as ordnance workers in the Salt Lake Temple faithfully twice a week for 40 years. Throughout her life Dorothy served diligently in many callings in the church she loved and with the PTA at her children’s school.
