  4. Dunfermline High School is one of the few secondary schools in Scotland which can trace its history back to the Early Middle Ages. When David I, son of Queen Margaret and Malcolm Canmore, founded Dunfermline Abbey in the 1120s, he made provision for a monastic Grammar School to secure the education, in Latin, of future monks in the town.

  6. 11 de mar. de 2010 · Architects drew up plans for an environmentally-friendly new school to replace the current run-down buildings after hearing community views, including those from pupils and staff at Dunfermline High. A planning application has now been submitted to Fife Council and it could be given the 'green' light in the summer.
