  2. Shepard studied at the Royal Academy Schools from 1897-1902. While at the RA Schools he met another gifted student, Florence Eleanor Chaplin (1876–1927). In 1904 they married; in 1907 their son Graham Shepard was born and in 1909 their daughter Mary Shepard, who was to marry E. V. Knox (1881-1971) who was editor of Punch from 1932-49.
