Edward James Holland Jr. (born October 30, 1939) is an American singer, songwriter, and record producer. He is brother to Brian Holland. Holland was born in Detroit, Michigan, United States. Although he was an early Motown artist who recorded minor hit singles such as "Jamie", he started working behind the scenes due to stage fright.
Eddie Holland achieved great fame as the chief lyricist and vocal arranger of Motown’s top songwriting team alongside his brother Brian Holland and Lamont Dozier. But in the years leading up to that gold-standard partnership, Eddie was first a singer.
Holland–Dozier–Holland was a songwriting and production team consisting of Lamont Dozier and brothers Brian and Eddie Holland. The trio wrote, arranged and produced many songs that helped define the Motown sound in the 1960s.

As part of the Holland/Dozier/Holland (HDH) production and songwriting axis, Eddie Holland helped pioneer the classic Motown sound of the 1960s. His songs, including “Stop! In the Name of Love,” “Baby I Need Your Loving” and “Come See About Me” became hit recordings for the Supremes, the Four Tops and Martha & the Vandellas.
