Edmund Ignatius Rice, F.P.M., C.F.C. (Irish: Éamonn Iognáid Rís; 1 June 1762 – 29 August 1844) was a Catholic missionary and educationalist. He was the founder of two religious institutes of religious brothers: the Congregation of Christian Brothers and the Presentation Brothers .

He was beatified in 1996.

Edmund Ignatius Rice, 1762 – 1844, From Callan to Waterford. Edmund came from the small town of Callan in County Kilkenny where he was born on 1st June, 1762 and where his family was involved in extensive farming. His parents saw to it that Edmund was well educated. He was intelligent and showed early signs of good business acumen.
Blessed Edmund Ignatius Rice was a father, husband, philanthropist, educator, and visionary. In the two centuries since his death, his example as a man of compassion, action, and faith has inspired thousands, like Edmund, to make the world a better place for all life.
