Hace 4 días · His lady was daughter of Thomas Lord Howard, of Bindon, son of the Duke of Norfolk, by Elizabeth, daughter of the Duke of Buckingham. She died October 8th, 1639. The east side of the chapel is defaced by a clumsy pyramid of black and white marble supporting a small urn containing the heart of Esme Stuart, son of the Duke of Richmond and Lenox, by the Lady Mary, daughter of the Duke of Buckingham.
Hace 5 días · While his Welsh subjects were installing Tudor iconography and visual expressions of loyalty, Henry Tudor was ‘not unmindful of Wales’, commissioning Sir Rhys ap Thomas to create a new tomb for his father, Edmund Tudor, earl of Richmond, which would sit in the church of the Greyfriars at Carmarthen, later removed to St David’s Cathedral.

(fn. 199) John's widow continued to hold the manor during the minority of her daughter Margaret, subsequently wife of Edmund Tudor, earl of Richmond, whose heir on her death in 1509 was her grandson Henry VIII.

The reputed manor of DITTON PRIORY originated with the grant of 1 carucate of land to the nuns of Swaffham Bulbeck priory by Margaret de Kemesek, confirmed in 1243 by her lord Robert de Valognes.

The fatalities among Henry's supporters included York's great rival Edmund, Duke of Somerset (whom York hated with a passion), and the king himself was captured. York became Lord Protector, ruling in Henry's name.
