Edward Donnall Thomas (Mart, Texas; 15 de marzo de 1920-Seattle, Washington; 20 de octubre de 2012) fue un médico estadounidense, pionero en el trasplante de médula ósea. [1] [2] Estudió medicina y se especializó en hematología y oncología.
Nacido en Mart, Texas el 15 de marzo de 1920, el Dr. Thomas fue hijo de Edward E. Thomas, médico rural, y de Angie Hill Donnall Thomas, profesora. El Dr. Thomas hizo el primer trasplante de células de médula ósea en 1956, antes de que se conocieran los antígenos leucocitarios HLA.
