Eleanor de Clare, suo jure 6th Lady of Glamorgan (October 1292 [3] – 30 June 1337) was a powerful Anglo-Welsh noblewoman who married Hugh Despenser the Younger, the future favourite of Edward II of England, and was a granddaughter of Edward I of England.

3 de ago. de 2018 · This must have caused some head scratching as Hugh Despenser the Younger’s wife, Eleanor, was another member of the de Clare family. Eleanor was the 8 th earl’s sister. She and her two other sisters became co-heiresses after the 8 th earl died at Bannockburn.
Despenser the Younger rose to become Chamberlain and a close advisor to King Edward II, much as Despenser the Elder had been. Despenser the Younger claimed the Lordship of Glamorgan in 1317 [5] through his wife Eleanor de Clare. He then accumulated more lands in the Welsh Marches and in England.
