Elizabeth Barrett Browning pubblicò in seguito Sonnets from the Portuguese (1850), Casa Guidi Windows (1851), Aurora Leigh (1856) e Poems before Congress (raccolta dei suoi poemi, 1860). Fu una grande fautrice del Risorgimento italiano, che descrisse puntualmente, soprattutto gli avvenimenti del 1848-1849 in Casa Guidi Windows .

Elizabeth Barrett Browning was an English poet of the Victorian era, popular in Britain and the United States during her lifetime and frequently anthologised after her death. Her work received renewed attention following the feminist scholarship of the 1970s and 1980s, and greater recognition of women writers in English.
La colección de poemas que publicó Elizabeth en 1844 la convirtieron en una de las escritoras más populares, y llevaron a Robert Browning a que la escribiera diciéndole lo mucho que le gustaban sus poemas. Kenyon organizó la visita de Browning en mayo de 1845, y desde entonces, comenzó uno de los noviazgos más famosos de la literatura.
