The Duchy of Luxemburg was mortgaged to Elisabeth by her uncle King Sigismund of Hungary, who later also became King of Bohemia and Holy Roman Emperor. He was unable to repay the loan, and subsequently left Elisabeth in control of the duchy. Elizabeth's first marriage took place in Brussels on 16 July 1409, to Antoine, Duke of Brabant.

Elizabeth of Hungary (died 1189), was a Duchess consort of Bohemia, married to Frederick, Duke of Bohemia. Her parents were King Géza II of Hungary and Euphrosyne of Kiev. She served as regent of Bohemia twice in the absence of her spouse. Biography. Elizabeth married Frederick in about the year of 1157.
She spent only October 1619–November 1620 at Prague and hence was known as the ‘Winter Queen’. Elizabeth of Bohemia's parents, Frederic V and Elizabeth Stuart (also known as Elizabeth of Bohemia [1596–1662]), were deposed as king and queen of Bohemia while she was still a child. In exile, Elizabeth was raised by her grandmother Louisa Juliana and an aunt in Silesia until the age of nine, when she joined her parents in Holland at the Hague Court.
