Anna Eleanor Roosevelt was born in New York City on October 11, 1884. Her father was Elliott Roosevelt, President Theodore Roosevelt's younger brother and her mother was Anna Hall, a member of the distinguished Livingston family. Both her parents died when she was a child, her mother in 1892, and her father in 1894.
Elliott was the more academically successful and appeared to be the most promising of the four Roosevelt children, but that would change in time. Throughout his life, Elliott maintained a pleasant, but volatile personality bent on self-destruction. The Roosevelt children were schooled at home, as was customary for families of their position.
Elliott Roosevelt, son of Franklin Delano Roosevelt, was born in New York City on September 23, 1910. He was a brigadier general in the Air Force during World War II, and held a variety of jobs, including Advertising Executive, Editor, Radio Broadcaster, and President of a company.
