Born in Cuba, Enrique “Kiki” Garcia emigrated to America and made a name for himself, founding the Miami Latin Boys alongside Emilio Estefan Jr. and several other Cuban-born American musicians. In 1977, the band was renamed Miami Sound Machine and went on to create a worldwide sensation with their intoxicating rhythms and catchy melodies.
Enrique "Kiki" Camarena Salazar (July 26, 1947 – February 9, 1985) was an American intelligence officer for the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA). In February 1985 Camarena was kidnapped by drug traffickers hired by Mexican politicians in Guadalajara, Mexico. He was interrogated under torture and murdered.
