The House of Wessex, also known as the House of Cerdic, the House of the West Saxons, the House of the Gewisse, the Cerdicings and the West Saxon dynasty, refers to the family, traditionally founded by Cerdic of the Gewisse, that ruled Wessex in Southern England from the early 6th century.

Wessex fue uno de los siete reinos principales que precedieron al reino de Inglaterra. El nombre deriva de West Saxons y estaba situado en el suroeste de Inglaterra. Existió como reino desde el siglo VI hasta el surgimiento del estado inglés en el siglo IX, y como condado desde 1016 hasta 1066.

The Kingdom of the West Saxons, also known as the Kingdom of Wessex, was an Anglo-Saxon kingdom in the south of Great Britain, from around 519 until England was unified in 927. The Anglo-Saxons believed that Wessex was founded by Cerdic and Cynric of the Gewisse, though this is considered by some to be a legend.
