Article History. Blackfriars Bridge, London. Blackfriars, small district in the City of London. It is located on the bank of the River Thames, east of The Temple and southwest of St. Paul’s Cathedral. From 1221 to 1538 the Blackfriars Monastery was located on the riverside.
