Esther Jane Williams (August 8, 1921 – June 6, 2013) was an American competitive swimmer and actress. She set regional and national records in her late teens on the Los Angeles Athletic Club swim team.
Esther Williams, American swimming champion who became one of the most popular and profitable Hollywood movie stars of the 1940s and ’50s. Her movies, including Bathing Beauty and Million Dollar Mermaid, featured elaborately choreographed swimming, diving, and waterskiing displays and underwater ballet sequences.
