The Grand Duke of Luxembourg (Luxembourgish: Groussherzog vu Lëtzebuerg, French: Grand-duc de Luxembourg, German: Großherzog von Luxemburg) is the head of state of Luxembourg. Luxembourg has been a grand duchy since 15 March 1815, when it was created from territory of the former Duchy of Luxembourg.

Großherzog (französisch Grand-duc, lateinisch magnus dux, englisch Grand duke, italienisch Grandúca) ist ein europäischer Adelstitel im Rang zwischen Herzog und König. Das Herrschaftsgebiet ist ein Großherzogtum. Der Thronfolger eines Großherzogs trägt den Titel „Erbgroßherzog“.
Der Großherzog von Luxemburg ist der Monarch und das Staatsoberhaupt des Großherzogtums Luxemburg, dessen politische und institutionelle Befugnisse in Kapitel I und dem ersten Teil von Kapitel III der Verfassung von Luxemburg geregelt sind. Er ist der einzige regierende Großherzog der Welt.
Frederick II (9 July 1857 – 9 August 1928; German: Großherzog von Baden Friedrich II.) was the last sovereign Grand Duke of Baden, reigning from 1907 until the abolition of the German monarchies in 1918. The Weimar-era state of Baden originated from the area of the Grand Duchy of Baden.

One of the grand duke's main functions is to represent Luxembourg in the field of foreign affairs. In May 2001, Grand Duke Henri and Grand Duchess Maria Teresa undertook their first foreign state visit to Spain at the invitation of King Juan Carlos and Queen Sofía of Spain .
