Died 20 March 1929 in Paris, France. Ferdinand Foch was a French general who commanded a corps and an army (1914), and then France’s Northern Army Group. He served on the army’s general staff in 1917 and was appointed Allied supreme commander in March 1918. After leading the Allied armies to victory, he presented armistice terms to Germany.
