He succeeded to the barony on the death of his father in 1732. The first few years after his father's death were spent in Italy and Paris. On his return to England, he took his seat, as 2nd Baron Conway, among the Peers in November 1739. Henry Seymour Conway, politician and soldier, was his younger brother.
She married Seymour-Conway on 29 May 1741, when he was still Baron Conway. Their children were: Francis Seymour-Conway, 2nd Marquess of Hertford (1743-1822) Lady Anne Seymour-Conway (1744-1784), who married Charles Moore, 1st Marquess of Drogheda, and had children; Lord Henry Seymour-Conway (1746-1830)
Francis Ingram-Seymour-Conway, 2nd Marquess of Hertford, KG, PC, PC (Ire) (12 February 1743 – 17 June 1822), styled The Honourable Francis Seymour-Conway until 1750, Viscount Beauchamp between 1750 and 1793, and Earl of Yarmouth between 1793 and 1794, was a British peer and politician.

Captain Richard Seymour-Conway, 4th Marquess of Hertford KG (22 February 1800 – 25 August 1870) was the son of Francis Seymour-Conway, 3rd Marquess of Hertford. Lord Hertford lived mostly in Paris, in a large apartment in the city and, from 1848, the Château de Bagatelle, a small country house in the Bois de Boulogne on the outskirts.
