Official website. Sant'Apollinare (locally Santapunaro or Santapunare) is a comune (municipality) in the Province of Frosinone in the Italian region Lazio, located about 120 kilometres (75 mi) southeast of Rome and about 50 kilometres (31 mi) southeast of Frosinone .
Basilica of St. Apollinare. According to ancient tradition, St. Apollinare was the first Bishop of Ravenna, consecrated and sent to evangelize the region by St. Peter himself. The first church erected in his honor within Rome was built between the second half of the VII and beginning of the VIII century, during the full Byzantine domination.
