Franz Marc (født 8. februar 1880 i München, død 4. marts 1916 i Verdun, Frankrig) var en tysk maler og regnes til den tyske ekspressionisme. [1] Marc søgte inspiration på rejser, blandt andet 1906 til Grækenland og flere gange til Paris. 1911 var han medgrundlægger af " Der Blaue Reiter " med Wassily Kandinsky , August Macke og Alexej von Jawlensky .

Before his early death in World War I, Marc used animal paintings to express a pantheistic vision of the harmony between animals and their natural environment.
Franz Moritz Wilhelm Marc was a German painter and printmaker, one of the key figures of German Expressionism. He was a founding member of Der Blaue Reiter, a journal whose name later became synonymous with the circle of artists collaborating in it. His mature works mostly depict animals, and are known for bright colouration.
