Gabriele Münter was a German expressionist painter who was at the forefront of the Munich avant-garde in the early 20th century. She studied and lived with the painter Wassily Kandinsky and was a founding member of the expressionist group Der Blaue Reiter.

Gabriele Münter murió en 1962 dejando una de las colecciones más extensas del expresionismo alemán. Münter fue una artista profesional toda su vida, dedicada al avance de la interpretación artística emociona l, pintando activamente durante más de 60 años, y creando más de 2 mil pinturas, miles de dibujos y casi mil 200 fotografías.
