Gangs of New York brings it 18 century New York to life and with masterful craftsmanship by Martin Scorsese. It's not a masterpiece of any stretch, but it is a very impressive dramatic epic.
Di Caprio might have been the headliner of The Gangs of New York but Lewis was really at the center. His depiction of Bill was amazing. He was a multi-faceted villain. The ending was a great bit of symbolism by Scorsese. He has the draft riot simultaneously with the fight between Bill and Amsterdam’s gangs.
