Chater memorably played Christmas Humphreys, the QC who wrongly convicted Timothy Evans (played by John Hurt), absolving John Christie (Richard Attenborough) of murder, in 10 Rillington Place (1971). Geoffrey Michael Chater Robinson was died on October 16 2021, aged 100. He was survived by his wife Jennifer Hill, their daughter and two sons.
