Brief Life History of George. When George Abercrombie was born on 8 July 1705, in Tullibody, Clackmannanshire, Scotland, his father, Alexander Abercromby, was 35 and his mother, Mary Duff, was 22. He married Mary Dundas on 21 April 1726. They were the parents of at least 7 sons and 4 daughters.

Robert Meldrum, the Secretary of State for Scotland, gave Tullibody lands to his nephew George Abercromby after his death in 1666. George lived with his father Alexander in Menstrie Castle at that time. The Meldrum family disputed the gift in court. The Abercrombys won the case in 1741, 1742, and 1743.

GEORGE - of Tullibody - ABERCROMBY was born on monthday 1705, in birth place, to Alexander Abercromby and Mary Abercromby (born Gordon). GEORGE had 5 brothers: James Abercrombie, Helen Abercrombie and 3 other siblings. GEORGE married MARY ABERCROMBY (born DUNDAS) on monthday 1726, at age 20 in marriage place.
The church was rebuilt in 1760 at the cost of George Abercromby, first laird of Tullibody. A fine memorial to his father and grandfather dating from 1700 (and similar to the huge graves in Greyfriars Kirkyard lies against the wall of the church.
