George Gilbert Scott [also known as Sir Gilbert Scott, and as Sir George Gilbert Scott] was born in Gawcott, Buckinghamshire, England on 13 July 1811 and was articled to James Edmeston (1791-1867) in London from 1827 to 1831. He then worked briefly in the office of Peter & Grissel, a building firm, and for Henry Roberts (1803-1876).
