George Lambton, 2nd Earl of Durham. (George Frederick) D'Arcy Lambton, 2nd Earl of Durham (5 September 1828 – 27 November 1879), styled Viscount Lambton from 1833 to 1840, was a British peer . Early life. The Honourable George Lambton was born in London on 23 December 1860, the fifth son of George Lambton, 2nd Earl of Durham and his wife, Beatrix, daughter of James Hamilton, 1st Duke of Abercorn. He was educated at Winchester, Brighton and Eton, and admitted to Trinity College, Cambridge on 11 June 1879.

George Frederick d'Arcy Lambton, 2nd Earl of Durham (1828–1879); only son surviving to adulthood of the 1st Earl. John George Lambton, 3rd Earl of Durham (1855–1928); eldest son of the 2nd Earl, died without legitimate male issue.
History. Meet The Panel. Voting. Features. Hon. George Lambton. The fifth son of the 2nd Earl of Durham, George Lambton was involved in racing for over 65 years as an amateur rider, owner and trainer. He rode his first winner at Nottingham in 1880 and was among the top amateurs of that decade.
Public life. Lord Durham served as Lord-Lieutenant of County Durham from 1854 to 1879. On 19 July 1877, the Earl of Durham signed a document giving an acre of his land to be used for the construction of a church in the newly formed parish of Fatfield.
