29 de abr. de 2024 · John George Lambton, the Earl of Durham, was a British reformer. His nickname was “Radical Jack.” He was made the governor general of British North America in 1838. He was asked to figure out what had caused the rebellions in Upper and Lower Canada in late 1837. He arrived in Canada in May 1838.

Hace 2 días · His son John George Lambton first Earl of Durham built the house called Dinsdale Park as a hunting residence about 1825 and died in 1840. He was succeeded by George, second Earl of Durham, who about 1844 sold it to Henry George Surtees, Sheriff of Durham in 1862.
