6. Laddie (1935) Laddie is a 1935 drama film directed by George Stevens and based on the novel of the same name by Gene Stratton-Porter. He is the founder of the American Film Institute, creator of the AFI Life Achievement Award, and co-creator of the Kennedy Center Honors.
