The Restoration drama “The Rehearsal” written by George Villiers, 2nd Duke of Buckingham is a satire which ridicules famous authors and plays of its time.“The Rehearsal” deals with a playwright called Bayes who attempts to stage a play. During the drama he shows the rehearsal of his latest production to two gentlemen, Johnson and Smith.
