George William Frederick Villiers, 4th Earl of Clarendon, KG, KP, GCB, PC (12 January 1800 – 27 June 1870) was an English diplomat and statesman from the Villiers family . He served as Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs three times as part of a distinguished diplomatic career.

George Villiers, 4th Earl of Clarendon. Lord Clarendon was succeeded by his eldest son, the second Earl. He sat as Member of Parliament for Christchurch and Helston. He never married and was succeeded by his younger brother, the third Earl.

The Tory leader, Derby, twice offered him a place in government. A good linguist, he was an acknowledged expert on foreign affairs. Clarendon had learned the skills of diplomacy as minister in Madrid during the Carlist wars and later as lord‐lieutenant in Ireland (1847–52).
