  2. 16 de ene. de 2020 · Norvo toured Europe in 1968 and was one of George Wein’s Newport All-Stars the following year. Despite encroaching deafness, he led a trio in the early 1970s. He was still playing when he suffered a stroke in 1986.

  5. 8 de abr. de 1999 · Red Norvo, jazz’s first mallet virtuoso on marimba, xylophone and vibraphone, whose delicate sounds graced clubs from Los Angeles’ Westside to Europe for six decades, has died. He was 91.

  6. An ear operation left him out of action from March-July 1968, but he was able to tour Europe as a soloist in late 1968. Norvo worked with George Wein’s Newport All Stars (1969), led his own group (1970–72), took a year’s sabbatical, then resumed playing.
