George of the Palatinate (10 February 1486 – 27 September 1529) was Bishop of Speyer from 1513 to 1529. Life. His parents were Elector Palatine Philip and his wife Margaret of Bavaria-Landshut, a daughter of Duke Louis the Rich . He held posts as canon in Mainz, Trier and Speyer and was Provost in Mainz from 1499 to 1506.

Frederick V (German: Friedrich; 26 August 1596 – 29 November 1632) [1] [2] was the Elector Palatine of the Rhine in the Holy Roman Empire from 1610 to 1623, and reigned as King of Bohemia from 1619 to 1620.

Although a palatinate could be rooted for decades into one dynasty, the office of the palatine counts became hereditary only during the 12th century. During the 11th century the palatinates were still regarded as beneficia, non-hereditary fiefs.
