The recording features two different quartets, with only Billy Higgins (ds.) and Jordan (ts.) appearing on all tracks; Cedar Walton and Stanley Cowell take turns on piano, while Sam Jones and Bill Lee (father of Spike!) take turns on bass.
16 de ago. de 2007 · The single recording that best represents this gentle giant is 1974's Glass Bead Games, a two-volume session on which Jordan leads two quartets—the first with drummer Billy Higgins, pianist Stanley Cowell, and bassist Bill Lee; the second retaining Higgins while replacing Cowell with Cedar Walton and Lee with Sam Jones.
12 de nov. de 2003 · He's terrific on Clifford Jordan's "Glass Bead Games" and I recall that I love one of his compositions called "equipoise," which he plays on Heath Brothers, "Expressions of Life." It's an astonishingly beautiful composition.
