14 de dic. de 2016 · About Godfrey Lionel Rampling. He was an English athlete and army officer who competed for Great Britain in the 1932 Summer Olympics and in the 1936 Summer Olympics. He turned 100 on 14 May, 2009 and was the oldest living British Olympian. Born in Blackheath, London, Rampling won the British AAA championships in the 440 yd (400 m) in 1931 and 1934.
Rampling was born in 1946 in Sturmer, Essex, the daughter of Isabel Anne (née Gurteen; 1918–2001), a painter, and Godfrey Rampling (1909–2009), an Olympic gold medallist runner and British Army officer. She spent most of her early life in Gibraltar, France and Spain, before she returned to the UK in 1964.

Godfrey won the British AAA championships in the 440 yd (400 m) in 1931 and 1934. At the 1932 Summer Olympics, he helped the British 4×400 m relay team win the silver medal, behind the United States.
