Graham Central Station was an American funk band named after founder Larry Graham (formerly of Sly and the Family Stone). The name is a pun on New York City's Grand Central Terminal, often colloquially called Grand Central Station.

Graham Central Station is the self-titled debut album by former Sly and the Family Stone bass player Larry Graham 's new band, "Graham Central Station". Background. In late 1972, Larry Graham quit Sly and the Family Stone because of tension between Larry and group leader Sly Stone.
This promising 1973 album represents bass wizard Larry Graham's first post-Sly and the Family Stone work. Much like his previous band, Graham Central Station was a multiracial unit that blended soul grooves and pop hooks to create an exuberant hybrid.
