Article History. Landshut, city, Bavaria Land (state), southeastern Germany. It lies on the Isar River northeast of Munich. Named for its early position as the protector ( Hut) of the neighbouring district, it was founded in 1204, when the duke of Bavaria built a fortress there, and was chartered in 1279.

Bavaria-Landshut ( German: Bayern-Landshut) was a duchy in the Holy Roman Empire from 1353 to 1503. History. The larger Duchy of Bavaria-Landshut between 1363 and 1392 (includes Munich and Ingolstadt but not Straubing) The creation of the duchy was the result of the death of Emperor Louis IV the Bavarian.
