Prince William Henry, Duke of Gloucester and Edinburgh, KG PC FRS (25 November 1743 – 25 August 1805), was a grandson of George II and a younger brother of George III of the United Kingdom . Life. Prince William was born at Hadley Common, Hertfordshire. His father was Prince Henry, Duke of Gloucester, the third son of King George V and Queen Mary. His mother was Alice, Duchess of Gloucester, the third daughter of the 7th Duke of Buccleuch and Lady Margaret Bridgeman.
Prince Henry, Duke of Gloucester (Henry William Frederick Albert; 31 March 1900 – 10 June 1974), was a member of the British royal family. He was the third son of King George V and Queen Mary. He served as Governor-General of Australia from 1945 to 1947, the only prince to hold the post.
