Longsword (Longespée), Stephen (d. 1260), justiciar of Ireland, was the youngest son of William Longsword, 3rd earl of Salisbury, illegitimate son of Henry II (qv), and commander of John's forces in Ireland in 1210, and his wife, Ela.

Ela Longespee, Lady of Ashby (1244 – c. 19 July 1276) was a wealthy heiress and daughter of Stephen Longespée, Justiciar of Ireland, and Emmeline de Riddlesford, granddaughter of Walter de Riddlesford.
When Stephen de Longespée was born about 1216, in Salisbury, Wiltshire, England, his father, William de Longespée, was 41 and his mother, Ela FitzPatrick Countess of Salisbury, was 31. He married Emmeline Riddlesford on 8 February 1243, in Salisbury, Wiltshire, England. They were the parents of at least 3 daughters.
