Founded in 1890, The Taft School is a coeducational boarding school for students in grades nine through post graduate. Living where they learn, academically talented students from all over the world are guided by an extraordinary faculty on a 226-acre campus in Western Connecticut.
The Taft School is an academically rigorous co-educational college-preparatory boarding and day school in New England for students in grades 9-12. Close to 600 students from 44 countries and 33 states prepare for college at this academically rigorous school set on 226 acres.
College Matriculation. Over the past five years (2019–2023), Taft students enrolled at 198 different colleges and universities in 38 states, the District of Columbia, and six foreign countries. During the same period, five or more students enrolled at each of the following schools: Amherst College, 6. Babson College, 7.
The curriculum included Latin, mathematics, English, history, and science, with Greek and modern languages (French and German) available to the older students. In 1898, Taft changed the name of the growing institution to The Taft School, and a period of slow but steady growth followed.
